NJ Transit Penn Station Entrance Closed By Flood Damage
Crews are working to repair weekend flooding damage at the NJ Transit entrance on Seventh Avenue.
MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — Weekend flooding caused damage at the Seventh Avenue New Jersey Transit entrance at Penn Station, forcing the transit agency to close down the entrance, officials said.
The entrance concourse suffered "substantial damage" including collapsed ceiling tiles, NJ Tranist officials said on social media. The entrance was shut down on Saturday, Aug. 11 and will be closed "until further notice," transit officials said.
NJ Transit were still working at the entrance as of Monday morning, according to NBC New York traffic reporter Lauren Scala. The transit agency also canceled seven trains in and out of the station during the early morning commute.

The city has been pummeled by a number of storms recently, and the weather forecast doesn't look promising for the week ahead. More than half an inch of rain is expected to soak Central Park by early Wednesday morning as a chance of storms steadily looms, the National Weather Service forecast shows. The weather service warned that the storms could produce some flash flooding in the metropolitan area.
