Trump Tower Infiltrator Detained Clutching Bag Full of Weapons

When the Secret Service emptied his bag, they say they found a knife, handcuffs, a firecracker, a garrote, a water pistol and some rope.

MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — Kanye West isn't the only suspicious person to show up unexpectedly in Donald Trump's lobby in the past 24 hours. According to local police, a 19-year-old college student — whose name has not been released — walked into Trump Tower around 6:30 p.m. Monday carrying a full bag of weapons.

Members of the Secret Service, who've been posted throughout the building ever since its most high-profile resident (and owner) was named U.S. president-elect on Nov. 8, quickly stopped the young man as he entered the lobby Monday evening and questioned him about the contents of his bag, an NYPD spokesman told Patch.

Here's what they allegedly found inside:

  • A Swiss army knife with a 6-inch blade
  • A pair of handcuffs
  • An M-80 firecracker
  • A "garrote" (an old-fashioned device used to strangle someone)
  • An empty water pistol
  • Some rope

The 19-year-old has since been identified as a student who had some level of special needs at Baruch College in Gramercy Park, police said.

Cops took the Trump Tower infiltrator into custody Monday night and drove him to a nearby hospital for evaluation, according to the NYPD. No charges had been filed by Tuesday afternoon.
