MIDTOWN, NY — A group with the mission of getting public school students to experience the magic of Broadway hit a major milestone this month.

Since 2017, Broadway Bridges has brought 100,000 high school students to the Great White Way through offering New York City sophomores $10 tickets.

The group, a partnership between The Broadway League, NYC Public Schools and the United Federation of Teachers, says their goal is to ensure that every 10th grader in a New York City public school has a chance to see a Broadway show.

On Nov. 9, nearly 155 students and chaperones gathered in Times Square to commemorate the milestone — right before they went off to see their afternoon matinees.

“Broadway Bridges began six years ago with the commitment to ensure that every New York City public high school student be given the opportunity to attend a Broadway show before graduation," said Charlotte St. Martin, president of The Broadway League. "To celebrate this milestone today of welcoming 100,000 students and chaperones to our theatres is most gratifying as it signifies our continued goal of having Broadway be more accessible to our youth."
