Pennsy Food Hall To Close In March, Vendor Says
The Midtown Manhattan food hall above Penn Station will shut down on March 31.

MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — The Pennsy Food Hall above Penn Station will shut down at the end of March, a longtime vendor said in a social media post.
Owners of vegan restaurant The Cinnamon Snail announced on Instagram that Pennsy vendors recently received a notice that the food hall will close on March 31. The Cinnamon Snail joined the Pennsy as one of its original vendors when the food hall opened in 2016.
Closure of the food hall will mean the end of the Cinnamon Snail's business, owners said.

"With our big production kitchen in Brooklyn, other high overhead, and fast escalating costs of running a small food business in NYC, I have made the decision to pull the plug on The Cinnamon Snail entirely when the Pennsy closes its doors at the end of March," the Instagram post reads.
Vornado Realty Trust, which owns the Pennsy's building at 2 Penn Plaza, opened the Pennsy with the intention of operating the food hall on a temporary basis before redeveloping the building, a source familiar with the firm's plans said. The Pennsy's upcoming closure will coincide with the redevelopment of both 1 and 2 Penn Plaza — which will be re-branded as Penn 1 and Penn 2.

Penn 1 is set to open in 2021 and Penn 2 will open in 2022, a source familiar with Vornado's plans for the district said. Both redevelopments will feature indoor and outdoor dining options, the source said.
Other current vendors at the food hall include The Little Beet, Pat LaFrieda, Italian spot Ribalta, Sabi Sushi and Taco Dumbo. The food hall also features a cocktail bar and beer garden.
