MIDTOWN, NY — A man fell onto train tracks inside the Grand Central subway station and miraculously only suffered a small cut on the back of his head, police said.

At about 11:45 a.m. on Tuesday, the conductor of a downtown 6 train saw a 55-year-old man standing on the platform start to wobble as the train approached the station, police said.

The man then fell to the tracks and the conductor immediately pulled the train's emergency brakes, according to officials.

Despite the conductor's quick reaction, the train still made contact with the man, giving him a cut in the back of the head, police said, but fortunately no other injuries.

Fellow straphangers on the platform rushed to the man's aid and retrieved him from the tracks, where first responders rushed the man, who was awake and alert, to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition, officials said.
