MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — One person was seriously injured after falling onto the subway tracks from a platform at Penn Station, FDNY and transit officials said.
The person fell onto the northbound C and E train subway tracks shortly after 10 a.m., an FDNY spokesman said. Firefighters waited until power was cut to the tracks to rescue the person, who was later taken to an area hospital, the spokesman said.
C and E trains skipped Penn Station and ran on the express track from Canal St to 59 St-Columbus Circle while first responders worked to rescue the person, MTA officials said.
