Police Arrest 2, Seek 3 More In Midtown Cab Driver Beatdown: NYPD

Police say that five people smashed up the taxi and beat up the driver after some sort of dispute earlier in July.

MIDTOWN, NY — Police arrested two people and are looking for three more after a taxi driver and his car was smashed up, officials said.

Howard Colley, 35, and Natalie Morgan, 51, were arrested near Sixth Avenue and West 34th Street on July 19 at about 8 p.m. when police responded to the scene of five people punching and kicking a 60-year-old cab driver, police said.

Colley was charged with assault while Morgan was charged with criminal mischief, according to NYPD officials.

Officials said the beatdown occurred when there some sort of dispute occurred between the cab driver and the group of five, causing the driver to pull his cab over.

A police spokesperson couldn't confirm if the five individuals were walking, biking or in a vehicle.

As the taxi came to a stop, two people in the group worked together to break the car's side view mirror, police said.

The driver then got out of his car and all five people in the group began to punch and kick the man several time, officials said.

First responders brought the injured driver to NYU Langone Medical Center in stable condition, police said, while the three remaining suspects fled.

Officials released images of three people they claim are connected to the incident, a man and two women.
