Saks Fifth Avenue's New Handbag Showroom Among NYC's Largest
The Fifth Avenue department store's handbag section has tripled in size.
MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — Saks Fifth Avenue debuted the renovated main floor at its Midtown Manhattan flagship store Tuesday, revealing one of the largest handbag collections in New York City retail, the company announced.
The department store, located on Fifth Avenue between East 49th and 50th streets, now features a 53,000-square-foot main floor, Saks Fifth Avenue executives said. The store's handbag department has tripled in size following the renovation.
"The opening of our re-imagined main floor is another milestone in our Grand Renovation that offers our customers a modern and expansive experience the moment they walk through the doors," Saks Fifth Avenue President Marc Metrick said in a statement. "The new handbag floor reinforces Saks' position as a fashion authority with an exceptional offering."

The new main floor is just the latest renovation at Saks Fifth Avenue's flagship location. Last year the store debuted a new beauty department on its second floor. The department store is set to unveil another renovation — its new jewelry department called The Vault — later this year.
The Saks Store Planning and Design team collaborated with the architecture firm Gensler on the flagship store's renovation.

"Seamless access between our dominant handbag presentation, revolutionary beauty experience on the second floor, and the upcoming Vault on the lower level reinforces our New York City flagship as a one-of-a-kind luxury destination with unparalleled service and merchandise," Metrick said in a statement.
