Teen Critical After Being Hit By Hospital Bus In Midtown: NYPD

The 14-year-old girl was struck in the intersection of East 54th Street and Second Avenue by a Memorial Sloan Kettering shuttle.

MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — A teenage girl was rushed to the hospital in critical condition after being hit by a Memorial Sloan Kettering shuttle bus in Midtown Manhattan.

The girl was crossing the street at East 54th Street and Second Avenue around 3 p.m. Wednesday when she was struck by the hospital shuttle in the intersection, police said. Officers arrived on the scene to find the girl unconscious and suffering from head trauma, police said.

NYPD investigators said the shuttle was traveling south down Second Avenue before the collision.

EMS rushed the girl to Bellevue Hospital, where she remains in critical but stable condition, police said.

The Memorial Sloan Kettering shuttle driver, a 56-year-old woman, stayed on the scene of the collision and was not charged, police said. The NYPD highway unit is investigating the collision and does not suspect any criminality, police said.
