Teen Girl Shot, Man Stabbed Along Midtown Parade Route: Police

A person of interest was taken into custody regarding the shooting but no one was arrested in connection with the stabbing, police said.

NEW YORK — A teen was shot and a man was stabbed in two separate incidents that occurred Sunday along the Mexican Independence Day parade route in Midtown, according to police.

A 17-year-old girl suffered a gunshot wound to the left shoulder in the area of Park Avenue and East 27th Street, police said, adding a person of interest was taken into custody.

A 24-year-old man was stabbed in the buttocks around Madison Avenue and East 28th Street, according to police, who said no one was immediately arrested and the investigation was ongoing.

Both incidents occurred at about 5 p.m., roughly an hour after the parade — which took place along Madison Avenue from 39th to 27th streets — was scheduled to end, police said.

In both cases, the victims were taken to Bellevue hospital in stable condition, according to police.
