Woman Hit, Killed By Train At Grand Central; Subways Delayed: Police

A woman was killed after jumping in front of a train at the Grand Central–42nd Street station Monday morning, causing "severe" disruptions.

MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — A woman was fatally struck by a train at the Grand Central–42nd Street station in the middle of Monday's rush hour, snarling subway service, according to police and the MTA.

The unidentified 29-year-old woman was seen on video jumping in front of a downtown 6 train around 8:40 a.m., an NYPD spokesperson said.

She was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Service along the 4/5/6 lines was "severely disrupted in both directions" while emergency crews responded, the MTA said in a tweet around 9 a.m.

Downtown 6 trains were making no local stops between 86th and 14th streets, and 5 trains were running on the 2 line between 149th Street-Grand Concourse and Nevins Street, the MTA said.
