Woman Punched In Midtown Subway Antisemitic Attack: Police

MIDTOWN, NY — A man punched a woman inside a Midtown subway station in a self-admitted antisemitic attack, cops say.

The 29-year-old victim was walking in the 7 train passageway at 42nd Street and Lexington Avenue at about 11:30 p.m. when a man suddenly punched her in the face, according to police.

When she asked the stranger why he punched her, he simply said "you are Jewish," officials said.

The woman was reported to have minor injuries and the man fled the station, according to police.

Officials released images of a person they believe is connected to the incident and said that the NYPD Hate Crimes Unit is investigating.
