Window Washers Stuck Dangling From Top Of UN Building, FDNY Says

Two workers were stuck on a scaffolding hanging about 40 stories in the air from the Midtown landmark.

MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — Two window washers stranded outside an upper floor of the United Nations Secretariat Building were rescued Thursday afternoon, the FDNY announced.

Firefighters responded to the Midtown landmark on East 42nd Street and York Avenue around 12 p.m. and had the workers rescued within 20 minutes, fire officials said. The window washers were stuck on a scaffold about 40 stories in the air, fire officials said.

The workers were evaluated after the rescue and were not injured, fire officials said.
