BNL Retiree Shares Journey From India to Miller Place in 600 Pages

Mulki Bhat, a former nuclear physicist, writes memoir to share his family's stories.

A retired nuclear physicist for Brookhaven National Laboratory, Miller Place resident Mulki Bhat traveled long and far to get where he was.

Bhat has written and published "Journey of a Konkani Family," a 600-page memoir that documents his journey from his homeland of Goa, India to Miller Place, Village Beacon Record reports.
Bhat heard several requests from his son, while growing up, to learn more about Goa and the family's Konkanic culture. This lead Bhat to spend 12 years writing down his memories, his family's memories and their stories - passed down over generations - into a book.
The book also attempts to reflect on Bhat's own "anti-immigrant" resentment he  encountered when first coming to the United States on a Fulbright scholarship in 1956.

"Journey of a Konkani Family" is available for purchase online.
