- An 18-year-old from Bay Shore was charged with DWI for striking the two pedestrians on Saturday. Luis Trujillo, 67, of Islip was killed and and Veronica Deleon, 47, of Brentwood, was seriously injured. The driver's name was not released. (Subscription: Newsday)
- Restaurants in Patchogue joined together on Christmas Day to donate and serve hot multi-course meals to over 500 families in need. It was the 13th year the event was held. (News 12)
