Rocky Point Relay Raises $72K
Annual event raises awareness and funds in the fight against cancer.

It was another successful year at the Rocky Point Relay for Life as $72,489 was raised at the event.
The American Cancer Society, survivors and members of the community gathered at the high school track on June 8 and spent the evening walking or running the track and camping out throughout the night and into the morning.
“I’d like to thank the volunteers who came in support of this cause,” said Legislator Sarah Anker. “It’s vital that we keep working to create awareness on the high incidence of cancer on Long Island. Half of all cancer deaths are preventable, so we must make proactive, healthy decisions.”
This year marked the 100th anniversary of the ACS, which helps organize the Relay for Life movement in over 20 countries. Each year, more than 4 million people participate in the event.
