Rocky Point Students Catch School Spirit Through Coastal Fishing
The Rocky Point High School Fishing Club boarded the Celtic Quest fishing boat in Port Jefferson for a trip on the Long Island Sound.

The rods are real in Rocky Point. Students in the Rocky Point High School Fishing Club boarded the Celtic Quest fishing boat in Port Jefferson for a trip on the Long Island Sound that resulted in some striped bass, porgies and more. The 19 students in the club are exploring local fishing spots with club adviser and high school science teacher Mr. Joseph Gabrinowitz.

The club started last spring with the intention to foster and promote the sport of fishing with artificial flies, bait and lures. Students also experience an outdoor educational environment and find a sense of inclusiveness and community, all while learning patience and creating positive memories.
