Whiz Kid: Miller Place Senior an Accomplished Clarinetist

Miller Place senior masters the arts.

Name: Tyler Kozikowski - Age 17

School: Miller Place High School - Senior

Accomplishments: An accomplished clarinetist, Tyler has the distinction of being a Suffolk County Music Educators Association (SCMEA) "lifer". He has played the clarinet in the district's music programs since elementary school and was selected for the All County concert band every year since he was first eligible in the fifth grade.

He was a member of the Nassau-Suffolk Performing Arts Concert Band for three years, performing in concerts for the public at Long Island University's Tilles Center. Tyler is also a member of the Symphonic Concert Band and performed in the pit orchestra for his high school's drama productions of Fiddler on the Roof and Into the Woods.

The senior took four Advanced Placement (AP) courses while in high school and is on the honor roll. He also played JV soccer and badminton.

Kozikowski will be attending SUNY Albany in the fall, strongly considering a major in Forensic Science. He will also continue his musical pursuits, playing clarinet in the university's ensemble band.
