Driver Strikes 2 People During Mineola Road Rage Incident: PD

The man, who was previously arrested for impersonating a police officer, ran over a 52-year-old woman's legs on Sunday, police say.

A man who was arrested for impersonating a police officer last year struck two people with his car in Mineola during a road rage incident on Sunday evening, police say.

According to authorities, Anthony Scott, 37, of Westbury, got into a verbal argument with a driver, a passenger and a third person over a parking space after he double parked and exited his car on Jericho Turnpike, near Mineola Boulevard, at 4:55 p.m.

Scott, following a brief physical altercation, entered his car and intentionally struck two of the victims walking on the sidewalk, police say. A 52-year-old woman fell off the hood, struck the pavement and had her legs run over by Scotts' vehicle, police say. A 38-year-old man held onto a windshield wiper before being ejected from the hood, causing him to strike the ground and suffer a head and neck injury.

The man and woman were taken to an area hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Scott fled the scene westbound on Jericho Turnpike, however his license plate number was obtained during the incident and he was placed under arrest at his home, police say. He was found to be in possession of several controlled substances, including THC, Alprazolam and Oxycodone during his arrest, police say.

Scott was charged with two counts of second-degree assault, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, second-degree reckless endangerment, four counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and two counts of leaving the scene of a personal injury auto accident. He will be arraigned Monday in First District Court in Hempstead.
