The man also faces charges connected to assaulting his girlfriend on Saturday night, police say.

An ambulance driver was arrested for driving drunk with an 18-month-old toddler in the vehicle in Nassau County on Saturday night, police say.

Police responded to Winthrop Hospital to investigate a call for an assault at 11:30 p.m. and was directed to Horace Campbell, 38, of Hempstead, by his girlfriend who said he was driving a white "Empire" ambulette.

Officers observed the vehicle driving south on Mineola Boulevard at Old Country Road and attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but Campbell continued driving south on Franklin Avenue, swerving in and out of his lane, police say.
