Cops: Mineola Murder Victim May Have Been Targeted
Oscar Granados had stepped out of a cab just before he was shot outside his home, police say.

Nassau Police say they are looking for the person who shot a man dead outside his Mineola home Sunday night.
Police say Oscar Granados, 43, of Mineola was killed just after 9:30 p.m. in his driveway on Roslyn Road near Second Street.
Granados had just gotten out of a cab, when police believe he was likely approached by an individual who demanded money, authorities said.

Police believe he may have been targeted.
“We are currently investigating his whereabout from yesterday at about 5 p.m. when his relative last saw him till the time he returned home at about 9:30 p.m.,” Nassau Police Detective Capt. John Azzata said at a news conference Monday afternoon.

Granados was described by those who knew him as a hardworking man, who enjoyed gambling. The shooter may have been after his gambling earnings, according to Newsday. However, Granados, said to be returning home from Hempstead, was found with his wallet, money and cellphone.
His brother Miguel Ventura told CBS New York that he overheard the words, “give me the money,” before a shot rang out at about 9:30 p.m.
Granados was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:42 p.m., police said.
An earlier report on Eyewitness News, said as many as two suspects fled the scene after the shooting, with one dressed in a black bubble jacket and carrying a silver handgun.
