Trained AARP volunteer counselors will collect tax documents by appointment and return the completed taxes for pickup.
MOUNT VERNON, NY — The approach of tax time can cause understandable anxiety, but with a little free help from the experts, tax time doesn't need to be quite so taxing.
The Mount Vernon Public Library announced that free tax assistance through AARP Tax Aide will be back again at the library during this year's tax season.
Assistance will be provided by appointment. Beginning on Wednesday, and continuing through tax day, trained volunteers will provide free tax help on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Those in need of a little expert advice should call the reference desk at 914-668-1840 to schedule a time to drop off tax documents.

"The library is pleased to once again present this great partnership with the AARP Foundation Tax-Aide program," Library Director Timur Davis said. "Tax preparation services are free to the public and it allows the library the ability to provide services that help the community."
Participants must bring last year’s federal and state returns and supporting documentation, as well as official photo identification and a social security card, or other comparable documentation.
