'Emergency Help Needed,' Nearly 200 Cats In Yonkers Hoarding House
The Yonkers Animal Shelter is helping to rescue between 150 and 200 cats discovered just days after a similar situation in Yorktown.
YONKERS, NY — A second cat hoarding situation was discovered in Westchester County, just days after a tragic case in Yorktown made headlines.
According to the Friends of Yonkers Animal Shelter, it was a "strange coincidence" that a cat hoarding situation was brought to the shelter’s attention just two days after the sad situation in Yorktown Heights was discovered.
In the Yorktown situation, the owners were also found dead. Thankfully, there wasn't a human toll to the heartbreaking hoarding situation in Yonkers, but there are between 150 to 200 cats who need help in Yonkers right now.

The Yonkers Animal Shelter said it has already started to find homes for the cats, but the shelter said it desperately needs help from rescues who are able to take some of the animals in need.

A video of the scene shows that the cats appear to be social.
The shelter said it also needs help with cat food donations.
The Yonkers shelter does not have its own foster program, but the shelter said it will work with other organizations to help facilitate those interested in fostering any of these cats.

The shelter said that veterinary help is also an immediate need. All of the rescued cats need to be vetted, which will be a monumental task.
