Flooding-Related Death Confirmed By Mount Vernon Officials

A Bronx man whose car became disabled and trapped in rising water was found dead by a passerby who called police.

MOUNT VERNON, NY — Receding floodwaters revealed another victim of torrential rains and flooding in Mount Vernon.

A 33-year-old man from the Bronx was found Thursday morning, according to Mount Vernon officials. Alan Dorsainvil was discovered apparently unconscious in his car on South Columbus Avenue by a passerby who called police.

Investigators believe Dorsainvil drove into deep standing water in the road and became stranded. He became trapped in his car, which quickly filled with water, according to officials. The apparent drowning marks the third confirmed storm-related death in Westchester County.
