Iona Student Athletes Help Stop & Shop Deliver Thanksgiving Turkeys

Iona University student athletes helped offload 1,750 Turkeys that Stop & Shop donated to Feeding Westchester and the Food Bank of Huson Valley, as part of Stop & Shop’s annual Turkey Express program, in which nearly 22,000 turkeys were distributed to food banks and food pantries in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

Feeding Westchester Hunger Statistics:

• 1 in 3 (33%) of Westchester households are at risk of hunger.

· Feeding Westchester’s hunger-relief network is serving more than 220,000 people each month.

• Feeding Westchester delivered more than 21 million pounds of food, equivalent to 17 million meals, from July 2022 to June 2023.

Hudson Valley Hunger Statistics:

• 1 in 10 adults and 1 in 7 children in Hudson Valley are food insecure.
• Food Bank of the Hudson Valley’s hunger-relief networks serves more than 225,000 people each month.
• The Food Bank of the Hudson Valley provided more than 19 million pounds, equivalent to 16 million meals, from July 2022 to June 2023

Feeding Westchester serves all of Westchester County and the Food Bank of the Hudson Valley serves; Rockland, Orange, Ulster, Dutchess, Sullivan and Putnam Counties.
