YONKERS, NY — A popular supermarket chain that prides itself on "unbelievable quality" and "unbelievable prices," is applying to open its first store in Westchester County.

Chandler Spivey, the Senior Manager of Communication & Public Relations for Virginia-based Lidl US, told Patch that the company is currently in the site plan approval process for a store in the Central Plaza Shopping Center located at 2554-2582 Central Park Ave. in Yonkers. However, it's too early on in the process for the company to offer a specific timeline.

Application documents for site plan and special permit approvals submitted to the Planning Board of the city of Yonkers show that Lidl wants to convert four existing commercial tenant spaces (29,208 square feet) into a new supermarket with associated signage and site improvements to the front parking lot and rear parking lot/loading/trash areas.
