Maximus, The Abused Puppy Rescued By Police, Is Now Up For Adoption
A disturbing viral video led police to arrest the 8-month-old pit bull's owner in connection to the apparent animal cruelty captured.

YONKERS, NY — The puppy who stole the hearts of the Hudson Valley, after showing love and gratitude to rescuers in the face of horrendous abuse, is in search of a new home.
The pit bull puppy who survived abuse is now available for adoption at the Yonkers Animal Shelter. Shelter officials said he is very people-friendly, but not so much with other animals in the home.
The cost for adoption is $80.

The Yonkers Police Department said they became aware of a video that showed an unknown person throwing a dog into a closed roll-down storefront gate in the 4th Precinct. The department initiated an investigation the eventually led to the arrest of the dog's owner.
Police later released security and cell phone footage of the abuse, as well as footage of the rescued relieved puppy happy to be treated with kindness by police.

"Maximus is a VERY energetic pup at approximately 8-months-old and he was very happy to see our officers today," Yonkers police said in a statement announcing the arrest. "Great work by all involved, especially 4th Precinct Officers Nee and Bellone, Detective Specialist Jackson, and SPCA HLE Director Lungaro and Investigator Pataky."
