Twilight Track And Field Series: Memorial Field's Fitness Head Start
Let the games begin! Sprints, hurdles, long jump, high jump and relay races will bring cheers to Mount Vernon this summer.

MOUNT VERNON, NY — If you haven't had a chance to take in the beautifully restored Memorial Field Stadium in Mount Vernon, you're running out of excuses.
On Tuesday, Mayor Shawyn Patterson-Howard and Montefiore Einstein announced the sponsorship contribution of $25,000 towards the Track and Field Twilight Series in Mount Vernon at Memorial Field Stadium. Organizers said the summer events will promote community engagement, physical activity and encourage healthy lifestyles.
The Track and Field Twilight Series, sponsored by Montefiore Einstein, will will be held weekly at Memorial Field Stadium. The series will "run" from July 27 to August 17, with the starting gun firing every Thursday from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Mount Vernon officials expressed gratitude for Montefiore's support. The significance of the sponsorship for the Track and Field Twilight Series was highlighted by Mayor Patterson-Howard, who noted that the events will not only provide a platform for athletes to showcase their abilities but will also bring the community together to celebrate sportsmanship and athletic excellence.

"We are thrilled to have Montefiore as a sponsor for the Track and Field Twilight Series. "Overall, the legacy of track and field in Mount Vernon, New York, is characterized by a tradition of excellence, notable athletes, strong community support, and a commitment to training and development. Together, we are creating opportunities for our residents to engage in sports, showcase their talents, and lead active lives."
For its part, Montefiore said it aims to inspire athletes of all ages and foster an environment that encourages active lifestyles, through its partnership with the city.
"Summer break is often a child’s favorite time of year, but it can present serous health challenges for our youth," Montefiore Mount Vernon Director Regginald Jordan said. "Maintaining regular physical activity in a safe and healthy environment is critical and we are thrilled to support the Track and Field Twilight Series."
The Track and Field Twilight Series will feature a range of events, including sprints, hurdles, long jump, high jump, and relay races. The athletes will compete against each other, displaying their skills, determination, and passion for sports, according to organizers.
