Woman Found Dead In Car On Cross County Parkway Under Suspicious Circumstances

MOUNT VERON, NY — Police made a grisly discovery this weekend on the eastbound Cross County Parkway in Westchester County.

Around 8 a.m. on Sunday, a Westchester County Police Department patrol officer responded to a report of a disabled vehicle on the shoulder of the roadway just before the Broad Street exit. A woman was found dead behind the wheel of the car.

The circumstances are considered suspicious, according to police, and are being investigated as a crime by detectives from the General Investigations Unit.

Investigators believe that the woman may have been targeted for violence. There is no danger to members of the public, according to police officials.

The scene was processed by detectives from the Forensic Investigations Unit and the body was removed by the Westchester Medical Examiner's Office. The cause of death is pending an autopsy on Monday.

The identity of the deceased is being withheld for now, according to authorities.
