AT&T Program Introduces HS Students to STEM Education, Careers

From AT&T: Local high school groups are scheduled to visit the exciting 3D Printing and SMARTT Lab at Rockland Community College’s Haverstraw Center, through a special program funded by an AT&T grant to the STEM Exploratory Research Fund through the Rockland Community Foundation.

Students from Nyack High School are all set to visit on Wednesday, February 15 from 10am – 12 noon for a tour of the center and hands-on exploration of software programs for CAD (Computer Assisted Design), prototyping and learning about the wide-range of career opportunities in STEM related fields. Students will have an opportunity to use SolidWorks software and develop a prototype for 3D printing. On February 16 the center will host a group of students from Spring Valley High School (from 10am- noon).

STEM education (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) is the path to many rewarding well-paying 21stcentury careers. RCC offers many degrees in STEM education, including Engineering, Math, Science, CAD and Computers. RCC offers several ways to earn college credits while still in high school, including the Early Admit and High School Programs.
