• Nanuet Barnes and Noble Closing Down After 33 years (rocklandtimes.com) — Nanuet’s longtime Barnes & Noble is closing January 18, 2026, ending a 33-year run that’s left many locals rushing in for closing sales. The store cites an ended lease as the reason, amid wider vacancies and recent shutdowns in the same shopping plaza. Residents are encouraged to visit soon if they want discounted books before the doors shut for good. 
• Off-Duty Officer Being Investigated (rocklandtimes.com) — A state investigation is underway after a man was fatally struck by an off-duty NYPD officer’s car near the New York State Thruway Exit 14 in Nanuet on December 18. The Attorney General’s Office of Special Investigation is reviewing whether the officer’s actions contributed to the death, with all details still considered preliminary and subject to change.
