2 Victims Killed In NYC Food Truck Crash Identified: NYPD

NEW YORK CITY — Two victims who were killed in a multi-car crash in Queens on Tuesday have been identified, police announced.
Joaquin Venancio-Mendez, 41, and Santiago Baires, 70, were at a food truck at 19th Avenue and 42nd Street in Astoria around 8:37 a.m. when a Toyota Corolla crashed into them.
According to police, the 84-year-old driver of the Corolla was speeding and drove past a stop sign before crashing into the food truck where the two men were standing at.

The driver then collided with a Volvo sedan and a parked Volkswagen Passat, police said.
The three individuals suffered severe head and body trauma. The 41-year-old pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and a 70-year-old pedestrian were taken to a local hospital, where they were later pronounced dead.
