NEW YORK CITY, NY— The clothes on display in this year's Met Costume Institute exhibit titled "Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion" will awaken your passion for fashion. The gowns will have their debut tonight with an audience of celebrities attending the Met Gala.
The striking fashions are technically not about the traditional sleeping beauty. So don't expect to find any pillows, bedding, or princess gowns. Rather, the term sleeping beauty is meant to invoke the reawakening of spring.
Plenty of outfits in the exhibit are adorned with florals and insects and encased in a sort of glass biome. The exhibit is also a multi-sensory experience. In addition to viewing the gowns, you will also be allowed to touch certain items and smell several scents that are meant to complement specific outfits.
