NYC ICE Field Office Evacuated After Envelopes With White Powder Discovered
Test results are currently pending to identify the white powder.

NEW YORK CITY — Two people are being decontaminated after an envelope containing white powder was opened at 26 Federal Plaza in Lower Manhattan Thursday evening.
The incident prompted the building to be evacuated. Emergency personnel responded to the building after receiving a 911 call of a suspicious substance just before 4 p.m., the FDNY said.
“New Yorkers, I have been preliminarily briefed on the matter unfolding at 26 Federal Plaza,” Mayor Eric Adams said in a post on X. “I want to also reassure you that there are no known injuries at this time.”

Test results are currently pending to identify the white powder, according to reports. The NYPD and FDNY Hazmat teams are investigating the incident.
ICE detainees were moved to a different location during the emergency response and evacuation, according to PIX11 News.
