Hero Cops Dive Into NYC East River To Save Mother And Baby: NYPD
A weekend celebration in Queens turned tense when police jumped into the East River to rescue a woman carrying her 5‑month‑old baby, officials said.
The scene at Hermon A. MacNeil Park in College Point grew chaotic as volunteers prepared for a parade and festival and bystanders began shouting when the woman reportedly waded into the river while holding the infant.

73-Year-Old Attacked On Lexington Avenue, Police Say
Police are searching for a man who punched a 73-year-old on a Lexington Avenue sidewalk, leaving the victim hospitalized, New York City Police Department officials said.
Police have not made any arrests yet, but posted surveillance photos of the suspect.

Brooklyn Subway Slasher Still On The Loose, Police Say
A subway rider was slashed by a man aboard a Manhattan-bound Q train in Brooklyn over the weekend, police said.
Police said the attack happened as the train neared the Cortelyou Road station, where an unidentified suspect slashed the victim in the face with a sharp object before fleeing on foot, heading south on Cortelyou Road.
