6 NYC Restaurants, Chefs Are 2024 James Beard Awards Nominees
Check out the James Beard Award nominees served up by the prestigious culinary foundation this year.

NEW YORK CITY — A tasty prize is within reach for a healthy serving of New York City restaurants and chefs.
Six eateries and chefs across the city made the cut as nominees for the 2024 James Beard Awards announced Wednesday.
The nominees in 22 overall categories will be winnowed to a final winner to be unveiled in a June 10 ceremony at the Lyric Opera of Chicago.

"The Restaurant and Chef Awards Committee extends its heartfelt congratulations to the 2024 nominees—an exceptional list of culinary leaders and teams whose unique contributions greatly enrich our industry and broader food culture," said Restaurant and Chef Committee Co-Chairs, Lauren Saria and Allecia Vermillion, in a statement.
The Restaurant and Chef Awards nominees in New York City include Fariyal Abdullahi, chef for Hav & Mar in Chelsea.

Abdullahi is also one of the five nominees in the Emerging Chef category.
Melba's in Harlem likewise is among five nationwide nominees in the Outstanding Hospitality category.
And, finally, four city chefs are finalists for Best Chef in New York State. Those are:
- Nasim Alikhani, Sofreh, Brooklyn
- Atsushi Kono, Kono, Manhattan
- Charlie Mitchell, Clover Hill, Brooklyn
- Jeremy Salamon, Agi's Counter, Brooklyn
The James Beard Awards, first presented in 1991, recognize exceptional talent in the culinary and food media industries and are often regarded as the "Oscars of culinary arts."
