8 New York City Restaurants Among 'Best Restaurants for Foodies'

Of the nine restaurants in New York state, eight of them are in the city. Have you been to any of them?

NEW YORK, NY — If there's one thing New Yorkers do better than anyone else, it's go out for food. OpenTable released a list of the 100 Best Restaurants for Foodies in the country Wednesday, and it's no surprise New York City had more places on the list than any other city.

There were eight total restaurants in the city — seven of which are in Manhattan. If you want to head down I-95, Philadelphia took second on the list among cities with six total. Four restaurants from San Francisco were honored.

California took top honors among states, with 17 total on the list. New York was second with nine.

The restaurants weren't ranked from Nos. 1 to 100, just listed in alphabetical order, so you'll have to go to each and rank them for yourself.

The list was generated from more than 5 million restaurant reviews submitted by verified OpenTable diners between Aug. 1, 2015, and July 31, 2016. All restaurants with a minimum "overall" score and number of qualifying reviews were included for consideration. Qualifying restaurants were then scored and sorted according to the percentage of qualifying reviews for which "fit for foodies" was selected as a special feature, according to OpenTable.

"These standout restaurants are delicious destinations for the most passionate eaters -- those for whom dining out is practically sport," says Caroline Potter, OpenTable's chief dining officer. "Using ingredients both humble and exotic and drawing culinary inspiration from around the globe, this year's honorees consistently offer thrilling experiences sure to please even the most discerning diners."
