Adams' meeting with the "border czar" comes after he said he had reached out to Homan directly and shared that he would like to sit down and speak with him to hear what his ideas are, Patch previously reported.

"I want people to talk to each other. And I made it clear that I'm not going to be warring with this administration. I'm going to be working with this administration. President Trump is the president-elect and whomever he chooses to run his agencies, I'm looking forward to sitting down and see how we better New York," Adams said at a Dec. 3 press briefing.

The mayor has stated his desire to deport criminal migrants who are harming city residents.

"Those who are here committing crimes, robberies, shooting at police officers, raping innocent people have been a harm to our country. I want to sit down and hear the plan on how we're going to address them. Those are the people I am talking about," Adams said.

President-elect Trump has said he plans to begin a mass deportation operation after he is sworn into office.

Adams has previously said he wants to change the current sanctuary city policies and has been criticized for being open to deportations in the city.
