Baby Thrown Down Garbage Chute Of NYC Building, 1 Person In Custody
Officers initially responded to a call of an emotionally disturbed person before finding the 1-year-old child.

NEW YORK CITY — A person has been taken into custody after a baby thrown down a trash chute of an apartment building on Monday, police said.
The incident happened at 195 Steuben St. in Staten Island around 3:15 p.m., police said.
Officers responded to a call of an emotionally disturbed person and found a 1-year-old girl three floors below the chute opening in the building.

The girl's 39-year-old uncle was taken into custody after the incident, according to reports. No charges have been filed yet.
The child was not injured and was taken to Richmond University Medical Center in stable condition.
