NEW YORK CITY — A man suspected of fatally stabbing Samyia Spain, 19, in front of her twin sister outside a Brooklyn bodega surrendered to police, authorities said.

A "person of interest" in Spain's death was in custody Friday, said an NYPD spokesperson.

Police couldn't confirm his identity, but CBS New York reported he is a 19-year-old Bushwick man.

Spain's stabbing death shocked New York City as city dwellers learned about what unfolded Sunday evening.

Spain, along with her twin sister Sanyia Spain, had walked a Park Slope bodega on the corner of Fourth Avenue and St. Marks Place to buy snacks for a family game night, the New York Daily News first reported.

Inside, a drunken man tried to flirt with Samyia and became angry when she rejected his advances, the report states.

Outside, he fatally stabbed Samyia in the chest and slashed her sister's arm, police said.
