Bomb Threats Reported Across NYC Not Credible, Cops Say
The NYPD is monitoring a spate of bomb threats like others reported across the nation.

NEW YORK — A nationwide wave of bomb threats hit several locations in New York City on Thursday, police said. The NYPD says it is monitoring the electronic threats sent to places throughout the city.
"These threats are also being reported to other locations nationwide & are NOT considered credible at this time," the department's Counterterrorism Bureau said in a tweet.
Threats have been emailed to schools, businesses and media organizations across the country, news reports say. The source is a reportedly an automated email meant to get money from the recipient.

An NYPD spokesman could not say how many threats have been reported in New York City. A school in The Bronx was evacuated and ultimately cleared after a bomb threat was phoned in, the spokesman said. It's unknown whether that incident was related to the national wave.
