ICYMI: Bronx Man Charged With Murder In EMT's Death: Police
Jose Gonzalez has been charged with three counts of murder after police say he ran over an EMT with her ambulance while high on drugs.

NEW YORK, NY — A Bronx man was charged with murder early on Friday morning, hours after he allegedly killed an NYC emergency medical technician with her own ambulance.
Jose Gonzalez is believed to have been high on drugs on Thursday night when police say he ran Yadira Arroyo over with her own ambulance, killing her. Arroyo, a 14-year veteran of the city's fire department, was responding to an unrelated call in the Bronx with her partner when a passing driver told them that Gonzalez was riding on the back bumper of the ambulance, police said at a media briefing late on Thursday night. Arroyo, who was driving the ambulance, stopped the vehicle near the intersection of White Plains Road and Watson Avenue in the Bronx at about 7 p.m., police said. When Arroyo went to confront the man, he went around her and got in the driver's seat of the ambulance, Wilcox said. Arroyo's partner was injured as she struggled with the man inside the ambulance before the man allegedly reversed the vehicle, running over Arroyo and killing her, according to police.

Arroyo's slaying was described in gruesome detail later Friday morning, when the NYPD released information about the charges filed against Gonzalez. Police said in a statement that Gonzalez reversed the ambulance into Arroyo, knocking her over, before driving over her with the vehicle. Gonzalez continued driving, dragging Arroyo's body across the intersection and crashing into multiple parked cars, according to authorities.
