Bronx Teen's Brutal Stabbing Leads To 14th Arrest

Frederick Then was charged in the June killing of 15-year-old Lesandro Guzman-Feliz.

THE BRONX, NY — A 14th alleged gang member was arrested Sunday evening in the shocking gang-related killing of an innocent Bronx teenager, the NYPD said.

Frederick Then, 19, was arraigned Monday on charges including murder, manslaughter and gang assault in connection with the June 20 slaying of 15-year-old Lesandro Guzman-Feliz, the Bronx District Attorney's Office said.

Then, of Reading, Pennsylvania, is charged alongisde 13 other reputed members of the Trinitarios gang who allegedly chased down Guzman-Feliz, known affectionately as Junior, and brutally attacked him outside a bodega in the Belmont neighborhood.

"While today’s arraignment took place nearly three months after Junior’s murder, it sends a clear message that this investigation continues and we will go wherever it leads," Bronx DA Darcel Clark said in a statement.

Then and the others allegedly set out to attack a rival faction of their gang when they happened upon Guzman-Feliz, officials have said.

The boy was pronounced dead at St. Barnabas Hospital after he was slashed and stabbed with knives and a machete, according to officials.

Guzman-Feliz was an aspiring detective and a member of the NYPD's Explorers youth program. The New York City Police Foundation has established a college scholarship fund in his honor.
