NEW YORK CITY — Democrat Harvey Epstein is projected to win the City Council District 2 seat.

Epstein defeated Jason Murillo (Republican) and Independents Gail Schargel and Allie Ryan.

District 2 covers parts of Greenwich Village, Lower East Side, East Village, Midtown South-Flatiron-Union Square, Gramercy and Murray Hill-Kips Bay.

Jason Murillo (Republican): 8419 votes or 16.34 percent of votes

Allie Ryan (Independent): 1630 votes or 3.16 votes
