Comptroller Brad Lander Announces Run for NYC Mayor

NEW YORK CITY — New York City Comptroller Brad Lander has officially announced he will run for mayor against current Mayor Eric Adams in November 2025.
Lander made the announcement in a campaign video posted on YouTube Tuesday morning.
“Nothing can replace New York City, but we can replace a leader when they fail the basic test of the job,” Lander says in the video.

“It’s time for strong experienced leadership that delivers real results, time to deliver fairness and safety to build a more affordable, livable city.”
Lander joins former Comptroller Scott Stringer and New York state Sen. Zellnor Myrie as challengers to unseat Adams in 2025.

According to his campaign website and the video, Lander will focus on bringing affordable housing, fixing the subway system, cracking down on illegal weed shops, creating more jobs and implementing better management at City Hall.
The Democratic primary is scheduled for June 2025.
