Coney Island Hot Dog Eating Competition: Joey Chestnut Wins Contest With 72 Dogs
Joey Chestnut ate 72 hot dogs and buns in 10 minutes, winning the title of Nathan's hot dog eating champ for the 10th time.

CONEY ISLAND, NY — Eating champ Joey Chestnut has nabbed the winning title at Nathan's July Fourth hot dog eating contest, downing 72 hot dogs and buns in 10 minutes on Tuesday.
This is the 10th time Chestnut, nicknamed "Jaws," has won the title. The San Jose, California, native beat his record from last year by two additional dogs. Runner-up Carmen Cincotti inhaled 62 dogs to earn second place.
In the women's division, Miki Sudo won her fourth straight title with 41 hot dogs and buns in 10 minutes. She beat her record last year of 38.5 hot dogs in 10 minutes, according to Nathan's.

The yearly competition requires the competitive eaters who enter to down as many Nathan's hot dogs and buns as they can within 10 minutes to earn the coveted Mustard Belt.
