Connecticut Homecare Agency Hosts December Holiday Food Drive
-PUBLIC INVITED TO DONATE CANNED, BOXED GOODS TO ASSISTED LIVING SERVICES' CHESHIRE OFFICE TO BENEFIT CONNECTICUT FOODSHARE-

Giving Tuesday has come and gone, but one family-owned business is helping to keep the charitable initiative going strong throughout the month of December. Specifically, Assisted Living Home Care Services in Cheshire, Westport and Woodstock, is raising awareness for food insecurity across the state by hosting a public food drive for Connecticut Foodshare, a nonprofit organization that distributes nutritious food through local partners to support individuals and families. From now until Friday, December 19, 2025, the public is invited and encouraged to drop off non-perishable food items or monetary donations to Assisted Living Home Care Services’ Cheshire headquarters located at 270 Highland Avenue.
“Recent slices in social programs and the rising costs of groceries have forced more Connecticut families to face food insecurity,” said Mario D’Aquila, MBA, chief operating officer of Assisted Living Home Care Services. “These are people from all walks of life, both young and old and neighbors in need.”
According to estimates from Feeding America, more than 516,000 or 1 in 7 Connecticut residents struggle with hunger. Connecticut Foodshare is a member of the Feeding America nationwide network of food banks. Its process includes partnering with the food industry to rescue surplus food, using volunteers to sort and pack the food, which is then distributed to pantries, meal programs and mobile sites for individuals to access.

Further, the organization provides 835,150 senior meal packages to Connecticut’s elderly population every month as this is one of the state’s most vulnerable and at risk of malnutrition.
Either food or monetary donations for the Assisted Living Home Care Services Holiday Food Drive can be dropped off at the company office, located at 290 Highland Ave in Cheshire. Checks may be made out to Connecticut Foodshare. The company will then deliver all donations on Friday, December 22, 2025, to the Connecticut Foodshare food bank.

“Even in a state as wealthy as Connecticut, there is need for food assistance in every community,” adds D’Aquila. “We hope that everyone will join us in ensuring that no family goes hungry for the holidays.”
