Cops Shoot, Kill Knife-Wielding Man At Staten Island Home: NYPD
The cops opened fire after the man refused to drop his knife, officials said. One of the officers was wounded in the Sunday night incident.

STATEN ISLAND, NY — Two cops shot and killed a knife-wielding man Sunday night on Staten Island when he did not drop his weapon even after being hit with a stun gun, NYPD officials said. One of the officers was also wounded by gunfire in the encounter, according to police.
The officers responded around 9:50 p.m. to a domestic dispute involving an intoxicated person at the home on Bridge Court off Tompkins Avenue in the Shore Acres neighborhood, NYPD officials said.
At the door the cops encountered a man brandishing a knife with a 10-inch blade, said Chief of Detectives Dermot Shea. The man tried to make his way past a woman believed to be his wife and came at the cops, who repeatedly ordered him to drop the weapon, police officials said.

At least one of the cops struck the man with a stun gun, and the officers fired 10 to 12 gunshots when he did not stop his attack, Shea said. The man was killed and one of the cops was shot in the torso during the encounter, the NYPD said.
Both the officers involved were wearing body cameras, Shea said. Cops also recovered a knife, police said.
