Decomposing Body Found In NYC Apartment: NYPD

NEW YORK CITY — Police discovered the decomposing body of an 86-year-old woman inside a Brooklyn apartment while performing a wellness check on Monday, according to officials and a report.
Officers responded to an apartment on 63rd Street near 23rd Avenue in Bensonhurst around 1:30 p.m. and found the victim under piles of comforters, according to a New York Post.
The victim has since been identified as Kim To, according to police and the report.

Police believe the victim had been dead for quite some time and could have been deceased for as many as three weeks.
No criminality is suspected in her death, police said.

The 86-year-old's official cause of death will be determined by the city medical examiner’s office.
An investigation remains ongoing.
