Divers Search East River For Missing Boy, 13
The child was last seen Friday being carried away by the current after jumping in the water at East River Park, according to authorities.

MANHATTAN, NY — Divers searched the East River Saturday in a fruitless effort to find a 13-year-old boy who jumped into the river on Friday and was last seen being carried away by the current, according to authorities.
The New York Police Department's Harbor Unit searched for the boy throughout the day Saturday. According to police, the boy entered the water shortly after 4 p.m. Friday at East River Park in the East Village.
The boy lived in the area and may have jumped into the water to impress his friends.

A police spokesman confirmed boy jumped into the water while telling his friends, “Look what I can do” and was treading water as he was swept away by the current, the New York Post reported.
Devina Glover, the child’s cousin, identified him as Kavion Brown to The Post.

According to Fox News, diver teams, helicopters and emergency personnel searched through the night and all day Saturday to find the boy.
